Bariatric surgery in solid organ transplant patients: Long-term follow-up results of outcome, safety and effect on immunosuppression - 2018

Obesity has become a global pandemic, with more than one-third of the population meeting the criteria for obesity. It is commonly associated with comorbidities, such as heart and renal disease and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis which, in turn, can lead to end-stage organ failure. Bariatric surgery is the most effective solution for morbid obesity, and the number of patients undergoing it is rapidly and constantly growing.
